Sri Lanka Fish Production
The fisheries sector in Sri Lanka plays a vital role in economic and social life style development by providing direct and indirect employment opportunities for about 560,000 people and livelihoods for more than 2.7 million coastal communities. Importantly it provides more than 60% of animal protein requirement of people in the country. The fishery industry comprised of coastal, offshore/deep-sea, and inland sub sector.
